Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the football scholarship of his family as well as service for the community. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They raised him on their family farm near Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three siblings to represent Oklahoma in football. Three of them made All-America. A year later, in 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and secured two national championships. Selmon received a third scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer every week while in the course of his college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and played in the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-time all-pro. His career in business began. In 1988 he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute in the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 among America's best young men. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He was captain of his university team in the year 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
